About Officer William Cushing

Officer William (Billy) Cushing is a 17yr veteran of the Braintree Police Department where he has served with distinction, dedication and professionalism. He has been a patrol K9 Handler for 10 of those years of service during which he was partnered with K9 Kitt.

Just recently he was granted formal retirement stemming from permanent injuries received during a K9 track and ensuing gun battle with the located suspect in which Billy was shot 5 times and his K9 partner was killed.  He is a 2-time recipient of the George Hannah Award for Valor among other honors, and is a highly respected member of not only BPD, but the entire K9 community and the law enforcement field as a whole.

Officer Cushing has been involved in 3 fatal officer involved shootings during his time with Braintree Police Department, in each he was attacked with weapons, survived, and directly contributed to the survival of fellow officers.  He himself is humble and would never agree, but he is by all accounts a heroic officer and the embodiment of a warrior, guardian public servant.
